02 About me

Günther Nuyken.

IT architect and developer from Hemer in Germany’s Sauerland region. I build systems that should still be running five years from now – and, on the side, things that really have no business being in a browser.

Work

I have been working in the archiving and document management industry for more than 25 years. It started with EASY Archiv, then I moved to the maker of hyparchiv. After that I spent many years self-employed in ELO consulting and project management – from the Indexserver and custom client applications in VB.NET to workflows that handle approvals, distribution and archiving without email chaos.

For nine years I have been working as a project manager at a mid-sized company with more than 500 employees. My field: business applications, process optimisation, interfaces and projects that cut across IT and the business departments. That includes permission concepts aligned with Active Directory, preparing migrations and clear decision papers for departments and management – and, more and more, AI integration wherever it really saves work.

How it all started

I studied electrical engineering and wrote my diploma thesis in Turbo Pascal 6.0 – Borland, 1990, the first version with Turbo Vision. An object-oriented framework for text mode, with windows, menus and dialogs built from units like Objects, Views, Dialogs and App. The idea behind it has stayed with me ever since: clear objects, clean layers and a user interface that stays out of the user’s way.

Why this site

Because I would rather build tools than search for them. MIDI PERFECT exists because no backing generator wanted to talk to Cubase the way I need it to. Solar·Live, because I wanted to see my own PV system without opening a port into my home network. fixcopy, because “just send that over real quick” between two computers fails at the clipboard far too often.

Everything here runs without an account and without cookies. Where a server is needed, it is a Worker at the network edge that does exactly one thing.

Off the clock

Music: baritone guitar and vocals, Cubase, a songbook that gets reprinted regularly. Home lab: Home Assistant, cameras, energy optimisation for PV and battery.
